One of my user , Mr. kishore , asked this question.
" Sir ,I want to restrict the access to the content in hard disk partition to protect some personal data . But I don't know how to do it ?? Help me ? "
Follow the steps below to achieve the task .
- Open your group policy editor by typing " gpedit.msc " in you Run text box. [ Run can be opened by going to start ---> Run ]
- In the right side pane , Navigate as follows . User Configuration ---> Administrative Templates ---> Windows Components ---> Windows Explorer.
- Now choose Hide the specified drives in My computer and double click on it to open the dialogue box which will be as shown in the figure.
- Now select the radio button , Enable . It will activate a drop down menu as shown in the figure.In that select your choice and click apply.
That's it , you are done.Now you can choose which drives , you want the other users to access. Normally in colleges the same is done by the administrators to restrict the students from accessing the windows drives like C:\
Try opening the group policy editor guys.If your group policy editor access is not restricted , you can change the access permissions .

Sir, I did all the precodeures as you instructed on how to restrict a hard drive from other users. I am restricting my Hard drive "D" to protect my important datas. But after folowing your instructions and restartded my computer, i logged on the GUEST Account just to see if it could still access the Hard Drive "D". And it still can. Please advice on how i may able to finish the Task. Thank you & more power to you.
