How to show backlinks to your post in blogger ?

Many of the bloggers initially start with blogger and later shift to wordpress for the plugins and templates they get.But I don't think blogger is n't worthy for you to maintain a nice blog here.Many bloggers like Amit Agarwal maintain a great blog here.One of such great features in wordpress is track backing which is nothing but showing posts which link to your blog thus encouraging your fellow bloggers to link you.I thought then to do something for doing that so that I can get more links.When I started searching I found how to show backlinks to your post.Here is how to do it.

Login to blogger
Go to dashboard --> template
In the template,Find the tags "blogger" enclosed between '<' and '>'
You have to paste the code which you can download from the link below in between these tags depending on where in the post you want to have this thing.I recommend to paste the code just above tag "blogger" enclosed between <>.

The code consists of 2 sections.One is Backlink indicator which will print a link reading "Links to this post.".Second one is code for displaying your backlinks.Im pasting them combined so that you don't have a problem.You can modify the code by just doing some simple editing.

I used many of Google services,But I didn't use this thing yet.Today when I was searching I found this option "Note this " just beside similar pages in the search result as shown in the fig below.

So I just checked what it is and I tried this product of Google which is called "Google Note book"

The best thing is it's free. :D [I wonder what can Google do if it makes products for money!! Still now they are shocking others with just free products.One can imagine what they can do ,if they make paid products ]

Google notebook may be free but Microsoft one note , a product of Ms office is the best tool to track notes, journal your day, research & documentation from your desktop.It has got some great graphics.All you need is some money to buy it.

I know most of you might be using Gtalk by now.If you are not,Lemme tell you what is this Gtalk ? Gtalk is a simple-lightweight instant messenger program from Google.All you need it to download the Gtalk and login using your Google account.
Now that Google has opened up their Google Talk servers so that their users can login to Gtalk using the jabber client, you can use Google Talk to connect to your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo or ICQ.

How to enable autorun in USB drives ?

Whenever you insert a CD in CD drive , a .exe programme will run automatically,This feature is called autorun.If it's not able to detect the files,it will display a popup window which gives you different options to select like play media files,open the folder and so on.Normally this doesn't happen when you insert a USB drive as the Windows Autorun capabilities are restricted to CD-ROM drives and fixed disk drives.So how to enable autorun when you have USB drive ??
If you want to enable autorun in USB, the device must not be marked as a removable media device and the device must contain an Autorun.inf file and a startup application file.It is a complicated process to add this autorun functionality to your USB drive. But there is some software which does the same thing for you.

Autorun USB : AutoRun USB does the same thing for USB Flash Drives that autorun.inf files do for CD's! It automatically launch the program of your choice on your USB Flash Drive everytime you plug it in! No more searching for exe's through file explorer, just plug it in and go!.Right now the version number is 4.0 which is not a freeware and you can get the 7 day demo from here for this version.But the earlier version of Autorun USB 1.0 is a freeware and you can download Autorun USB 1.0 from here.
You can even set multiple programmes or multiple documents in the autorun using this software.Just download and install the AutoRun USB service on your Win2000 or WinXP PC. Then edit the autorun.usb text file on the root of your USB Flash drive to set which programs or documents to autorun.Sample of autorun.usb file is shown here.Just add "open = path of the file" to put it in autorun.

How to disable USB ports in your company computers ??

Are you the admin of some university or a company ?? Im sure you might be worried about data theft from the computers in your network or security problems, through external devices like flash drives.Most of these external devices get attached to the computers through USB ports.So how to disable USB ports on your computers ??

Traditional administrator way : Go to BIOS settings [Press Del when you see BIOS logo ] and disable your USB device from there.After that set a password to your BIOS [Users can reset BIOS password by removing the motherboard battery ]

Stupid way : Just buy a tape and seal the USB ports. [ In my college even CD drives are sealed this way ] . Being a administrator , you need to give the users a geeky look.So don't do it this way.

The above approaches are good but they both prevent other devices like printer and scanner from getting connected to your PC through USB.So, if you put some option like your users can just read data to USB ports and can't write any data,then it will be a bit useful.Some genuine users who want to bring some work related things from home can use it [ But this can't stop viruses,Using a anti virus solution is always recommended .]

Optimistic way : This works only for Win XP sp2 users.You just need to do a little bit change to your registry.Go to your registry editor by typing "Regedit" in your run and hit enter.Now navigate as shown below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Now add a new DWORD called WriteProtect and put the value as "0" to disable write in your USB ports. For inversion, delete the WriteProtect REG_DWORD or toggle the value to 1 which will enable write in the port.

Final way : Aaah ! your users are not showing loyalty by still posing problems to you coming with flash drives that have viruses and injecting them into your network.Do you really want to disable users from connecting USB storage devices to their computers ??Here is the way :

Go to registry editor again and navigate as shown below.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Services\UsbStor

Now in the right side pane, double click Start and type 4 in the Value data box (Hexadecimal) and quit the registry editor. To enable the USB storage devices again , change the Start value back to 3.

But remember,If one makes something,there will be two waiting to break it.

I think most of you might be bookmarking your articles after you publish them.For that you need to go to the bookmarking site and bookmark your article in the forms there.If you are IM love and you want to bookmark your article right from your IM,a new service has been launched for you.The service is Meshly.This service lets you save your links to your Meshly page through your favourite messenger. Other Meshly users can then vote on your links and take it to the frontpage. The concept seems have come from Twitter, Digg and Del.icio.us. Meshly currently supports Google Talk, AIM and MSN Messenger.

"I have always been a great fan of Del.icio.us. When I first read about Meshly on StartupSqaud, I quickly came to a conclusion that Meshly will certainly kill Del.icio.us, but I was wrong. I also think the same.It can become much better if the user interface on IM is better.

Virus in Adsense

I was reading this article on washington post blog where they say virus writers are now tainting Google Adsense ads.It says "Virus writers are contaminating Google's "sponsored links" , paid ads which are shown alongside search engine results. They are aiming to get their malicious software installed on computers whose users click onto ad links after searching for legitimate sites."
These malicious ads initially would route through an intermediate site. The intermediate site attempts to exploit a vulnerability in Microsoft Windows to silently install software designed to steal passwords and other sensitive information from your PC. The attackers exploited a flaw in Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser, a problem that the company issued a patch to fix last June. [ That's why windows recommend to keep your automatic updates on .]
Its not just windows fault.Some people say its because of some odd feature in Google ads also. Normally, when a viewer hovers over a hyperlink, the name of the site that the computer user is about to access appears in the bottom left corner of the browser window. But hovering over Google's sponsored links shows nothing in that area. That blank space potentially gives bad guys another way to hide where visitors will be taken first.
But Exploit Labs's Roger Thompson says that Google has taken down these offending links.This type of ad based spyware is not in news for first time.Last summer,more than a million Windows users had been infected with spyware due to a malicious banner advertisement shown for several days on high-traffic sites like MySpace.com and Webshots.com.

Adsense is no less that other companies in giving perks to its higher users.Adsense calls them premium publishers.One will considered a premium publisher only when their websites receive more than 5 million search queries, or 20 million content page views per month.Some of the examples of premium publishers are CNN,Linked in,AOL,Myspace...
So what perks does Google offer for its premium publishers ??Here is the list :

Creating direct links to 'AdSense for search' results - Adsense policies do not allow publishers to modulate Adsense for search box with keywords or create direct links to Adsense for search pages.However premium users can do this thing.They can modify their search box and can provide direct link to adsense for search pages where they will be no content and only adsense ads.

Google Ads Anywhere : Premium publishers can even put their ads on Adult and other pages where normal publishers are not allowed to do.Even premium publishers can place their adsense code on casino related content page which we are not allowed to.

Optional labelling- Premium publishers are free to remove the "Ads by Google" from Adsense ads and may put any label of their choice. Infact, they have the freedom to not mark the Adsense ad units as ads so that it can increase their CTR.

Flexible Adsense Ad Formats - They can design their own Adsense formats with custom font sizes, styles and color schemes. They can modify the ads in whatever way they like.

Finally premium publishers even negotiate the share of the earnings with Google.Not only this they even dedicate a manager for maintaining your adsense account.Whatever people say,Big always gets bigger and Adsense makes them more bigger.

How to turn off automatic updates messages in Windows ??

Microsoft has launched automatic updates services to help its users have much better functionality of OS and great security.Various security patches , functionality updates and bug fixes are normally downloaded through Windows Update.Every time an update is installed, Automatic Updates will prompt you to restart your system as shwon in the fig. If you choose 'Restart later', It will ask you again after 10 minutes until you restart the system.

It's annoying to see this kind of message particulary when you are doing some serious work.SO how to turnoff this message alert ??Here is the solution

Go to start --> Run
Now open group policy editor by typing "gpedit.msc" in Run and hitting enter.
In the right pane,click on computer configuration
Now go to Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Update
Now find "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic updates installations.
Right click on this ,go to properties and enable it.This actually specifies that for completing a installation,automatic updates will wait for a user to restart the computer instead of restarting automatically.By enabling,we are making it notify you about the installation.
Now find "Reprompt for restart with scheduled installations".
Right click on this,Go to properties and enable it.Also set the time interval to a long time [For e.g 100 hours].This time represents the interval for prompting you again.By default it is set to 10 min.Thats why XP asks you every 10 minutes for restart.If you set it for longtime ,it won.t ask you again.

How to set default OS when you have multiple windows OS ??

Windows Vista has just got released and it will take sometime for people to come up with softwares and all.So before that any user who want to install vista will always keep a older windows version like XP.If you have multiple OS,windows will ask to select one of them at the start.If you don't select it will take you the default one.So how to configure that default OS ??
If one of your OS is Vista,you have to change it from Windows Vista.

Right click on the computer and select properties.
Next,click on Advance system settings
Now click on settings under startup and recovery as shown in the fig.
Now select the default operating system from the drop down menu as shown in the fig.

You can also do this using command like we did in How to reduce space usage for system restore in Vista.Follow the steps below for doing this.

Open a administrator command prompt.Type cmd into the search box, and then hit Ctrl+Shift + Enter to open it in administrator mode. You should be prompted for the UAC dialog.
Now enter the following command
bcdedit /default {ntldr}

For e.g C:\Windows\system32>bcdedit /default {ntldr} The operation completed successfully.

Next time when you reboot,you will see Xp as default OS.

How to reduce system restore Hard disk space usage in windows Vista ???

Windows allocates 15 percent of your hard disk space for system restore. The slider bar which used to be there in Windows XP has been removed in Vista.You need to do some work with your command prompt for doing this now.
To change windows vista disk space usage, login as administrator and launch command line, and run vssadmin list shadowstorage to see the current allocation.
To change it, use:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=[drive]: /for=[drive]:
/maxsize=[size]

That is, to limit System Restore to 'n' gigabytes on the C: drive, use:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=C: /for=C: /maxsize=nGB

Of course, limiting System Restore's drive footprint also limits how far back it can store points.If you put very less space,Just keep a eye on your restore points regularly.

How to change the file extensions in Windows Xp ??

Sometimes you might have to change the extension of your files , like I mentioned in How to send .exe files in Gmail , for some specific purposes.But you might not be getting succeeded unless you have some knowledge of xp.Here by I'm explaining you how to change the extension of a file.
In a computer,every file stored will have its own extension,like a application may have .exe, a word document will have .doc or a image may have .jpg.....By default windows don't show you the extension of a file.Only files whose file type is not associated with any application is shown.So you can't change a extension by merely renaming.Since renaming changes just the name of the file.For E.g,If you want to change the file subhash.exe to text file i.e subhash.txt.When you rename subhash.exe,it will change to subhash.txt.exe and will still remain as a application.SO how should you change the extension ??Follow the steps below.

Go to windows explorer or some other folder in your PC.
Go to tools(Alt+ T) --> Folder options,which will be beside file,view,favourites on the top menu of the window as shown in the fig.
A dialogue box will popup.In that go to view tab and then uncheck the option Hide extension for known file types.
Now you will be able to see all the files along with their extensions.
Now just change the extension after the . in file name.

Once you are done with changing the extension,I recommend you to check the box,Hide the extension for known file types ,again as it looks weird with every file showing its extension.

A month ago , I heard this commencement speech by Steve Jobs ,CEO ,Apple and Pixar at Stanford University in my computer.This inspiring speech by Mr.Steve has changed my idea about the life and it has really helped me in going through some difficult phases.I wanted to share the speech to my readers so that it will help you and inspire you to do something big in life.Ill narrate it in the words of Steve Jobs.I changed the colour of most inspiring words in the speech to green.

He divided his speech into three stories.The first one is :

Connecting Dots :
"I dropped out of college after 6 months and continued as drop in for 18 months before I quit.Why I dropped ? My biological mother was a unwed graduate.She decided to put me on adoption.She wanted to give me to only graduates for adoption.but my parents are not graduated and my father is nt even a high school graduate.so my biological mother gave me to my parents on one condition that they will send me to college and will make me a graduate.Later on I went to college after 17 years.but I even chose a college which is as expensicve as stanford and all of my working class parents savings are spent on college tution.After 6 months I didnt find any value of the money that is being spent.I had no idea what was going with my life and how college is going to help me.Here I'm spending the money my parents has saved their entire life.so,I dropped out and trusted that all will work out ok.It was scary at that moment.but it was one of the best decisions I had ever made.The minute I dropped out,I stopped taking required classes that didnt interest me and began dropping in on ones that looked far more interesting.It wasn't so romantic. I slept on floor in friends rooms,worked in coke parlours,walked 7 miles every sunday night to get one good meal a week at hari krishna temple.Much of all I stumbled into by following my curiousity turned out to be priceless.Later on, my college offered best caligraphy instructions in the country.Through out campus evrything has been beautifully caligraphed.So I took caligraphy class and learnt about serif,sans serif,letter combinations and all.It was beautiful,historical and artistic, all that which science can't capture. I found it fascinating.none of it has a practical relevance in my life at that time.but after 10 years when we designed first Macintosh ,it all came back to me.We desinged all this in Mac.It was first computer with beautiful typography.If I wouldn't had dropped in college,Mac wouldn't have proportionately spaced fonts and multiple type faces.And just windows copied MAC it's likey no one would had them.It was impossible connecting dots looking forward in earlier life.But it was very very clear looking backwards 10 years later.You can only connect dots looking backwards but not forward in real life.so you have to trust that dots connect somehow to future.You have to trust something like your guts,your destiny, life watever.B'coz believing the dots will connect down the road will give u confidence to follow the road even when it lead you out of the path and this will make the difference."

Second Story :
Love and loss :
"I was lucky because I found what I love to do early in life.I started Apple when I was 20.We worked hard and in 10 years Apple has grown from 2 people in a grudge to a 2 billion dollar company with 4000 employees.We just released Mac a year earlier and I was 30.I was then fired.How can I get fired from the company I started ??Eventually I hired someone who was more talented to run the company.When our visions for future diverged , We started falling out.At that moment the board of directors sided him and at 30,I was out and publicly out of Apple.whatever has been the focus of my entire adult life has gone now and its devastating.I didnt understand what to do for a few months.I felt that I let the previous generations of the young enterpreuners down.I then met with Mr.David Packard and apologised for screwing up so badly.I was a public failure and I thought of running out of the valley.But somethng slowly began to dawn on me.I still loved what I did.I had been rejected but I was still in love.so I decided to start over again.I did'nt see then but getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could had ever happened to me.The heaviness of being sucessful has been replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again.Lets be sure about everything.It freed one of the most creative periods in my life.During the next years I started a company called "next" ,one more called "pixar" and fell in love with a amazing woman who became my wife.Pixar created worlds first animated feature film and is the most sucessful animaton studio in the world.In a remarkable turn of events,Apple bought next and I returned to Apple and the technology devoloped by next is the heart of renaissance of Apple.I'm pretty sure, none of this would had happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple.It was aweful tasting medicine but I guess the patient needed it. Sometimes life is gonna hit you in the head with the brick,don't loose faith.Im convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did.You got to find what you love.and that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.your work is gonna fill a large part of your life and the only way to get truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work and the only way to do great work is to love what you do.If you hadn't found it yet,keep looking and dont settle until you find it.As would all matters of heart,you know you will find it and like any great relationship it just gets better and better,as the years roll on.so keep looking,don't settle."

Third story :
Death :
"I read a quote When I was 17 ,that if you live each day as if it will be your last,someday you will be right.It made a impression on me and since the past 33 years every morning I look in the mirror and ask myself if this is the last day of my life, would I wanna do what Im about to do today ?? whenever the answer is no for some conescutive days ,I know that I need to change something.Remembering that all be dead soon is the most important thing that I encountered that helped me in making some big choices in life .Because almost everything all external expectations of pride, emarassment of failure or fear,all these things just fall away in the face of death leaving only what is truly important.Remebering that you are going to die,is the best way I know is to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to loose.You are already naked.There is no reason not to follow your heart.About a year ago,I was diagonised with cancer and I was having a very rare form of cancer which is curable.Doctors found this thing at the last moment and I am alive by god's grace.Having lived through this kinda condition,I can say this with a great certainity to you now , that death is a pretty useful intellectual concept.No one wants to die,even people who wanna go to heaven dont wanna die to get there.Death is the destination we all share.No one has ever escaped it,that is as it should be.Death is the single best invention of life.It clears all the paths for new.Right now the new is you.but someday not 2 long from now you will gradually become the old and be clear to give the way.This might sound to be dramatic and it is true.Your time is limited,so don't waste it living someone else life.Don't b trapped by trauma which will result by other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice.Follow your own heart.Most important is to have courage to follow your heart and initution.They somehow already know what you truly wanna become.Everything else is just secondary.Finally what I say yo the new graduates is "Stay Hungry,Stay Foolish""

I think most of you must be digging your article to get content based traffic after publishing .But how to find whether people has liked or disliked your articles by digging or burying them ??Here is a simple trick which will let you know when someone has dugg your article.

Go to the search page of Digg
There you will find three drop down menus below the search text box.
In the first menu select the option "URL only"
In the second menu select " All stories ",If you want to know the digg status of old articles also or select " Upcoming stories ",If you want to know the status of the articles which will be published from now.I recommend Upcoming stories.
Leave other options as default ,Enter the URL of your page and click search
If you have any articles dugg till now,you will see them along with number of diggs.
Now on the right side of the page,you will see something like as shown in the fig.

Now subscribe to this RSS feed, and it will show you when someone has dugg your article.You can also change the option in the first drop down menu of the Digg search page to Frontpage articles,if you want to know status when any of your article has made to the front page..

Microsoft has released Microsoft Silverlight just after few days it has released Tahiti, a screen sharing software.Looks like Microsoft is giving away its products for free these days after seeing Google's raising when it released some products from its labs last year.I think you should had understood by now that this software is also going to be a free one.But what is this Silverlight ???Lets have a look:

"Microsoft Silverlight is a cross-browser, cross-platform plug-in for delivering the next generation of media experiences and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web."
Silverlight was formerly code-named " WPF/E ".Silverlight integrates with existing Web applications. Silverlight media capabilities include fast, cost-effective delivery of high-quality audio and video to all major browsers including Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Windows Internet Explorer running on the Macintosh or on Microsoft Windows. Silverlight enhance existing standards/AJAX-based applications with richer graphics and media and improve their performance and capabilities by using Silverlight.Silverlight enables Flexible ad-insertion solutions with video and animation including the ability to deliver fluid, broadcast-style video or animated advertisements without any loss of visual fidelity or motion quality.

Till June,Microsoft will be distributing its prerelease version of Silverlight.Once its release is over,then also this software is going to be provided for free unlike earlier softwares in which Microsoft normally charges after final release.Microsoft has even got some elegantly designed wallpapers for your download cart.

Want to add copy to or move to option to your right click menu in windows explorer ???Here is the registry tweak for doing this .

Note :Backup up your registry before doing this.

Go to start-->Run .Type regedit and hit enter.
The registry editor will open
Now navigate as follows : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers
Now right click on context menu handlers and select new key.
Now double click on the default and change its value to "{C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"
You can now see copy to folder option in your right click menu.
For adding move to folder option to the right click menu,Follow the all above steps except renaming the new key to Move to and putting this value in default "{C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}"
Now copy or move content to anywhere with just few mouse clicks.

I didn't verify it for Windows Vista,but I heard that it works for Vista also

Installed windows Vista ?? You might be seeing a boot screen which has nothing but a black screen with a animation showing loading of Windows as shown in the figure below.

But vista has got a hidden boot screen inside it which can be enabled with some little tweaking.The hidden boot screen is called Aurora which looks like as shown in the figure below.

If you want to enable this hidden boot screen,follow th steps below:

Go to start --> Run.Type "msconfig" and hit enter.
Click the Boot tab, and then check the “No GUI boot” checkbox.
Now click Ok and restart your computer.

Now you will have your new boot screen.

As I just mentioned in my earlier post How to make a sitemap for Blogger blog,A sitemap is essential for your blog to have your posts indexed as soon as you write them.From now you can add sitemap link URL to your robot.txt file instead of going to Google webmaster central and submitting your sitemap there.Ask.com, Google, Microsoft Live Search and Yahoo! have announced the support of “autodiscovery” of Sitemaps. The new open-format auto discovery allows webmasters to specify the location of their Sitemaps within their robots.txt file, eliminating the need to submit sitemaps to each search engine separately.This will be a lot helpful to the webmasters who can now easily submit their content to the search engines and benefit from reduced unnecessary traffic by the crawlers and bots. The search engines get information with regards to pages to index as well as metadata with clues about which pages are newly updated and which pages are identified as the most important and search users get more fresh content.Just by adding one single line to the robot.txt file in your root directory ,you can add auto sitemap discovery.

Simply add the sitemap url following the word sitemap like this

Update your robot.txt file now and get indexed as soon as you write.

There may be other ways for creating a sitemap for your blogger blog.But here Ill tell you the simplest way by which you can create a site map for your blog.Just follow the instructions below and you will have your site map in minutes.

Visit Google Webmaster Tools sitemaps page and sign up to a free account.Blogspot accounts are now integrated with google accounts.So use your google login for making a Google webmaster account.
Once you sign in to the webmaster,Go to Webmaster tools [Including sitemaps].In that page,You will find "Add site".Enter the URL of your site and press Ok.
Now after adding your blog, you need to get it verified.For that ,click on "Manage:URL of your site" on the webmaster tools page.In the new page that opens now,click on Manage Site Verification in the left side menu.
On the verification page,you will find your verification Meta tag which will look something like this
Now go to your blogger dashboard,click on template and paste this code in the section of the code.Now save the changes of your template.
Now go to sitemaps tab on the top menu in Google webmasters central.
In that click on Add a sitemap and then choose general web sitemap in the dropdown menu.Now it will ask you for the URL of your sitemap location.Your blogs Atom feed is your sitemap now.
So paste the link of your atom feed now.If you have your blog feed,the your atom feed will be http://Blog URL/atom.xml?orderby=updated .Now click ok and you are done.Now it will show your sitemap in the sitemaps page as atom.xml.After few hours,it will review your site map and will set your status to pending.After some hours you will find the status set to Ok.

Now Google will index your pages much faster than earlier.So update your pages and get more visitors from search now .

How to run applications which are incompatible with Windows Vista ??

Installed Windows Vista ?? I'm sure ,you might not be able to run most of your favourite applications right now in it.When you try to run a program, you may get a pop up saying that you can't run this program as some .dll files which are needed to run are not available in system 32.For those who want to run their incompatible applications in Windows Vista,My friend Mr.Byte has got a solution.Here is the solution.

Windows Vista has got a inbuilt feature to address this incompatibility issue.If any program is not able to run under Vista, Right click on the .exe file and select properties. Click compatibility tab as shown in the figure below.

In the drop down menu , select the OS in which the application was earlier compatible with.Like I selected Win XP sp2 above.Make sure you check the option "Run this program as an administrator".Click Ok and run the program.
I don't know whether all the programs will run this way.Some of my friends said that they are not able to run some programs even after doing that.If you have any other trick to deal with this compatibility issue ,Post as a comment or send me along with your link,So that I can link you back.

Before you are finalised into TCS , you are required to undergo some medical tests.Most of my friends who didn't undergo through these tests yet are worried about them.For those I'm sharing my experience so that they will have a little bit idea about the tests.You are required to report there with empty stomach.

Adress : C block,Greater Kailash
Place: New Delhi
Time :11:00

As soon as you enter,they will ask you to fill a form about your health details and your family health details.Once you are done with filling the form,they will take you for X ray.Then they will take you to ECG.Next they will check your height and weight. After that they will take you to blood test lab where a sample of your blood will be taken.Then they will collect your urine sample.After that they will take you to physical tests section,where you are checked from top to bottom physically.Next they will proceed to eye tests,where each eye is checked individually.Then the doctor will check you for colour blindness by just asking to read the letters from a book which will be in different colours.
With this the process will be completed.If the people are less,they will show you your results there only.For one of my friend,they asked him to reduce drinking alcohol as he has more fat in his liver.Rejections in my college came for those who have colour blindness.Unless you have some very serious problem,there is nothing to worry.Just chill and give the tests.

Most of my friends on my network always has this problem.Yesterday this problem even creeped into my PC.So,I did some search about this thing and found the solution.This problem is named as "Hacked by Godzilla Virus " by the people.It creates a auto play option on the right click menu of your hard disk drives making you unable to open them by double clicking.However you can open them by rightclick -->Open or Explore.It changes the text of Internet Explorer title bar to "Hacked by Godzilla".Now here is the solution :

Go to any folder.In that on the top menu go to Tools--> Folder Options , which will be beside File,Edit,View,Favourites.
A window pops up after you click on folder options.In that window go to View tab and select the option Show hidden files and folders.Now uncheck the option Hide protected Operating system files.Click Ok
Now Open your drives (By right click and select Explore. Don't double click!) Delete autorun.inf and MS32DLL.dll.vbs or MS32DLL.dll (use Shift+Delete as it deletes files forever.) in all drives include Handy Drive and Floppy disk.
Open folder C:\WINDOWS to delete MS32DLL.dll.vbs or MS32DLL.dll (Use Shift+Delete )
Go to start --> Run --> Regedit and the Registry editor will open
Now navigate in the left pane as follows: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Microsoft --> Windows --> Current Version --> Run .Now delete the entry MS32DLL (Use Delete key on keyboard)
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Microsoft --> Internet Explorer --> Main and delete the entry Window Title “Hacked by Godzilla”
Now open the group policy editor by typing gpedit.msc in Start --> run and pressing enter.
Go to User Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> System . Double Click on entry Turn Off Autoplay then Turn Off Autoplay Properties will display.Do as follows:
- Select Enabled
- Select All drives
- Click OK

Now go to start --> Run and type msconfig there and press Enter.A system configuration utility dialogue will open.
Go to startup tab in it and uncheck MS32DLL .Now click Ok and when the system configuration utility asks for restart ,click on exit without restart.
Now go to Tools --> Folder Options on the top menu of some folder again and select the Do not show Hidden files and check Hide operating system files.
Go to your recyclable bin and empty it to prevent any possiblity of MS322DLL.dll.vbs lying there.
Now restart your PC once and you can now open your hard disk drives by double clicking on them.

Google labs has came out with its new product after a gap.The service is named GOOG-411 , A voice local search.
First of all for those who live outside United States and who don't have a idea about this number 411,Let me give you a idea of it.
"411 is a telephone number used in United States and Canada to provide local directory assistance.These days 411 is even used for long distance directory assistance in USA.411 is also commonly referred to as "DA" - "Directory Assistance" or "Information".Approximately 6 billion calls are made to 411 within the United States each year."
You saw that number - its 6 billion.Looks like Google has targeted such a huge user base this time with this service.The information database of this service is Google's own service,Google Maps. Using this you can get fast access to the same local information you would find on Google Maps.Don't think that you might need a computer or internet connection for using this service after hearing that it's from Google.All you need is a phone and you can access this voice activated service from any location at any time.
To try this service, just dial 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411) from any phone.Google is'nt going to charge you for the call or for connecting you to the business. Regular phone charges may apply, based on your telephone service provider.
Features that Google has provided on its site for this service

You can find a business listing by category. Just say "pizza," for example.
You can send the listing details to your mobile phone via SMS.
The service is fully automated, so it doesn’t rely on human operators.
It connects you directly to the business, free of charge. However, your telephone company may apply regular charges for making a phone call or receiving an SMS.

Right now since the product is in experimentation,it is available in US only and in English.

What about the quality ?

"Michael Arrington of TechCrunch says "The product is completely automated and there is no way to talk to a human for additional or clarifying information. You tell it your city and state, and then ask for a specific business or business category. In my tests the product was excellent. Although the voice recognition was only working at about 70% efficiency, I just said “back” and retried when it didn’t understand what I said. Results are spoken back or text messaged back to you, and you are automatically put through to the phone number requested."
Even if there are some bugs in the programme,Google will debug them by the time the product is out of experimentation.Don't worry about the quality.

Blogging is no more considered to be something done for time pass.A blog is now considered as an extra qualification for you to get a job.People now mention blog in their CV's.A blog shows you on the top of others with your exposure to the Computer much higher than your competitors in a software job interview.I personally have this experience.A blog can help you get through most of the part of your technical interview part.One of my friend Harsha,author of Grey Square, says
" The first thing the Interviewer saw on my CV was that I had a blog - This Blog. He was kind of impressed and asked me about the stuff I write among other things."
Harsha is now placed in wipro.
In the same way Ram from Torry Harris,co-author of Realview has also got placed in Torry Harris where all his tech-interview is done on his blog.As soon as the interviewer saw his blog link,he opened it and saw the blog.Then he asked him questions on How to buy domains,what is platform,How he wrote the code of his blog and all.
Finally in my case,The interviewer in my interview has asked me the same way with questions like "Define blog??","whats your niche in blog",How you get content?,"who visit your blog??" and all.Im now placed in TCS and Syntel.

Interviewers who don't know about blog might ask you out of curiousity and those who know will ask you to test how much knowledge you are having on the blogs.Companies test your willingness to learn and work.So show them in your way through a blog.All the best readers.

Note : Sometimes they might ask you a question "How much is your chance of taking up your blogging hobby as a profession ?? " .Reply them as "0%" and tell them you are doing it to utilise the free time you have.If you try to tell them that you are going to become a professional blogger,they think you will quit their company in future and might reject you.

F9: Open Gmail compose page to send an email to your friend.
F11: Start a call with your friend.
F12: End the current call.
ESC: Close the current conversation window.

Some other facts on Gtalk :

Max length of any message is 32767 characters.
Gtalk can recognise certain smileys and dsiplay them in blue colour.E.g :).:D,:P
You cant format more than 100 characters at a time i.e you cant bold or italicise.
Right clicking on the message notification window will close it.

How to give line break in a conversation ??
Sometimes when you want to type a long message before you can send to the other user,you might want to give some line breaks in it.It's simple in Gtalk.Just hold shift and press Enter and you will in next line.This shift + enter thing works with other messengers also like Gaim,yahoo..

How to write bold and italic text in Gtalk Conversation??
Gtalk IM window does'nt have any formatting toolbar like other messenger.So You might not be able to write italic and bold text.Here is the solution
For bold text : put "*" before and after the text.For e.g For typing Hi in bold letters type * Hi *
For italic text: Put "_" before and after the text.For e.g For typing Hi in italic letters type _ Hi _

How to switch windows in Gtalk ??
For switching,Hold ctrl, click on I will switch you through each chat window
For minimising,press ALT+ ESC
For restoring the chaw window.Press Windows + Esc

How to increase the font size in Gtalk ??
To increase or decrease the font size in Gtalk sonversation,just scroll the mouse wheel and the text size will change.

All the Google services like Orkut,gmail.. has got integrated now with Google accounts.If you had noticed, the login window in all these sites, is same one which loads through Https protocol in a different frame inside the webpage.This is the reason why Orkut can't open in some proxy sites like Manyarticle inspite of supporting Https as proxy sites are able to proxify only the main page and not the frame inside it.
In lower speeds also,Opening Orkut or Gmail may just irritate you either by giving error messages like "connection timed out” or “server not responding”.This is all because of the rich interface Google has built with that in frame.If you are on slow connection,what should you do ??
For Gmail :

Gmail has got another version of its mail apart from the typical AJAX interface.This secondary version loads normally when you login and when it finds that you connection is too slow.You can acess that secondary fast HTML version of gmail from the link below.

I know very little people who has been successful earlier with the Adsense referrals.Most of the publishers even feel it as a dead branch of Adsense.This concern has made Google come out with new plans in the past few months.Earlier it came out with a new pricing for referrals and now it is releasing Adsense Referrals beta.Unlike earlier where publishers have only four products of Google which are Google pack,FIrefox,adsense and adwords,Google will be going to give you option of choosing the products from different advertisers.The publisher will have full choice of choosing from a wide range of products.Just you have to tell for which keyword you want the ads to be displayed and Google will show you advertisers and their products related to your website.You have to just select the products you want and copy the code into your page.
These ads are cost per Action type.If your reader performs the action the advertiser wants,then only you will get paid.For e.g downloading and installing some software....But the pay will be more as it doesn't just need a click.This will boost you earnings if you properly choose the product to be displayed in your posts.You can even choose multiple products which will be displayed on rotation basis from different advertisers to be displayed in a single ad unit.
For the time being, the referrals beta test is currently available only to English-speaking publishers located in the United States.It will be opening to people in other locations soon.You can sign up for this adsense referrals beta by going to adsense referral page.Click sign up at the bottom of the page and it will take you the sign up form.

You might be wondering why there is a gap for new posts since the last two days.I just wanted to write this before , but time didn't permit me.I was busy with my test series 2 which was completed yesterday.I took up two subjects in this semester as my electives.One is Spread Spectrum Techniques and other is Knowledge Management.Ahh!!! Spread Spectrum course is a bit tougher this time.Course is WCDMA ,Multi user detection and two research papers with theme of performance evaluation of CDMA system.Lot of stuff for mugging which I tried to manage hardly.Anyways the paper went on fine.Moreover I made 2-3 diagrams of systems in the paper apart from regular theory.I hope Sharma ji give me good marks this time :) .
After that I had KM.I pray these Professional department (PD) teachers to treat us like engineers not MBA's.JIIT noida PD department provides you with such a high range numerical problems that are tougher even than mathematics and physics problems.I remember my days when I struggled in the Managerial Economics and Financial management in my 3rd sem,when the numerical s used to be damn big and tougher.The same happened with KM also this time.When I saw the paper,there are just 4 questions in which 2 of them are high weighted numerical problems whose solutions can't be determined.Still I have to pass the one hour time making something and something with common sense rather than bookish knowledge which I was doing in the PD papers since the last 4 years,hehe. Huhh!!! Anyways the test series went on good and We celebrated the ending with a A1 batch photo session and a party yesterday night.
