How to speed up windows XP shutdown process ??

Sometimes windows takes longtime to just initiate the shutdown process. It might be because of applications which are eating a lot of resources or applications which are in non responding state.Windows shows a warning dialogue having a progress bar with title "end task".You have to click "End now" to end it or you have to go to taskmanager and kill the process.Wanna avoid all this stuff ??
A virtual Exit has got a solution for this
Note : Backup your registry before you do this. This is just a precaution if something screws up.

Follow the steps below :

  • Open you registry editor from start --> Run and then type Regedit and hit enter.
  • Now navigate in the following path,HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
  • In the right pane,Edit AutoEndTasks Key and change its value to 1 (by default the value is 0 )
Now, if you want to revert back, just reassign the value of AutoEndTasks Key to "0" or simply delete that key. Apart from this, you can also improve the shutdown/bootup speed by disabling unwanted services.
