Tools to fix errors in your USB drives

Today most of the Computer users might be possessing a USB drive as it's simple to carry and the amount of data they can carry is also increasing as Technology advances . But most of the times these USB drives end up with errors causing frustration to the users . You can fix some of these errors using the tools available in the windows .

Prevention is always better than cure :- Don't remove the pen drive while the data is getting transferred as it will corrupt it. Never remove the Pen drive or USB drive without stopping it . Go to ‘Safely remove hardware’ by right clicking the green arrow icon in system tray[ shown beside the time in the image ), and then click stop the USB mass storage and when it says " its safe to remove it ", then remove it

If you want to get your USB drive on older computers (like Windows 98), do not forget taking the drivers CD along with which will allow such computers to recognize your usb drive. You don't know when you can encounter a evil old computer :) .

Fix errors in USB drive with Windows Check Disk : You think your drive might had got corrupted . Then try to use this tool to fix the errors .

Right click on the drive symbol in My computer and go to the properties of the USB drive . Now click on tools tab in the dialogue window. There you can see a check now Option as shown in the figure . It will open a dialogue window with Options Automatically Fix errors and scan and attempt for recovery of bad sectors .Check both of the options and click start and you are done .

Still your USB is not working ?? Format the drive now .

Right click on the drive symbol in My Computer and click on Format . A dialogue window will pop up . In the select quick format and click on start. Your format will be over in less than a minute . You now have got your USB totally empty . Trying using it now . If it still don't work ask your hardware support .

Note : Pen drives are main transmitters of Virus . Always run a scan with anti virus before inserting them on your PC .
